We specialize in interior design services for new construction and remodeling projects only. This means we help with everything from space planning and cabinetry design to material selections and layout decisions—essentially, the structural and foundational elements of your space. We do not take on decorating-only or cosmetic refresh projects (like just picking paint colors, flooring, pillows, or furniture) as standalone services. However, decorating is available as part of a full-service remodel or new build project. Interior Design (what we do) involves creating or reworking the layout and functionality of a space—think floor plans, cabinetry, lighting plans, hard surface materials, and more. On the other hand, decorating focuses on the finishing touches—like furniture, paint color, art, and accessories. Design and decorating go hand in hand, but our process starts with the bones of the space. If you're building a new home or planning a remodel, that's where we shine!

Yes, we have a minimum design fee of $500 for our interior design services. This helps ensure we can dedicate the proper time and attention to each project and deliver thoughtful, high-quality results. We focus on new construction and remodeling projects, which typically involve multiple design elements and planning stages. While we don’t set a minimum project size in terms of square footage, projects should align with the level of involvement and detail that our design process is suited for. If you're not sure whether your project is the right fit, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help you figure that out!

Yes! As a design client, you’ll have access to our exclusive trade discounts and wholesale pricing through a wide range of local and online vendors. We share these with you as part of our design process. The specific details of how this works—including purchasing, markups, and how orders are managed—will all be outlined clearly in your design agreement at the start of your project. It’s one of the many perks of working with our professional design team!

Yes! We help coordinate with contractors, electricians, and other trades to ensure your design is carried out smoothly and according to plan. This takes the stress and guesswork off your plate, making the process less overwhelming and more enjoyable for you. We have a list of preferred contractors and tradespeople we know and trust, but we're also happy to collaborate with professionals you’ve already selected. If you're using your own contractor, we’ll ask you to bring them on board early to align on scope and timing. Please note that all contractors are independent, and any quotes, contracts, and payments will be handled directly between you and them. We’re here to guide and support the process, but those financial agreements remain between you and the trades.

We’re based in Lakefield, MN with a remote location in Luverne, MN and primarily serve clients within a 30-mile radius of those areas. That said, we’re always open to traveling further! For projects outside our service area, additional mileage fees may apply, and those details will be outlined in your design agreement. In some cases, we may also offer customized options depending on your location—just reach out and we’d be happy to discuss what’s possible for your project.

We do offer virtual design services, but with a few important considerations. While we’ve successfully completed remote projects in the past, we’ve found that our process works best when we can visit the space in person to take measurements, assess the space, and get an overall feel for the environment. If you're located outside our travel area and prefer a virtual option, we’re still happy to work with you! Just keep in mind that this will require more hands-on involvement from you, including providing detailed measurements, photos, and other information we’d typically gather in person. Also, depending on your location, you may need to do a bit of extra legwork to source certain products locally if we’re unable to access our usual vendors. We’ll guide you through it all—just know it’s a more collaborative effort when done remotely.

We recommend reaching out as soon as you know you may want to work with us—even if your project is a year or more away. Our schedule often books out in advance, and we typically have a waiting list, so it’s unlikely we’ll be available on short notice. Getting on our radar early helps ensure we can plan accordingly and reserve time in our calendar for your project. It also gives us a chance to guide you through the early stages of planning, which can be just as important as the design itself!

Absolutely! We’re happy to design a single room, a whole home, or anywhere in between—whatever your project needs. Whether it’s a kitchen, bathroom, mudroom, or any other space, we’re here to help bring your vision to life. Just note that we do have a $500 minimum design fee for each project, regardless of size. This ensures we can dedicate the time and attention needed to deliver high-quality, personalized design solutions.

At this time, we do not offer one-time consultation-only services. Our focus is on providing a more comprehensive and in-depth design process, which allows us to deliver thoughtful, well-executed results from start to finish. While we always begin our projects with a discovery phase to understand your needs and vision, our services are intended to guide you through the full scope of your remodel or new build—not just offer ideas and walk away. This approach ensures consistency, quality, and a seamless experience throughout the entire design journey.

We offer stand-alone window treatment services, so you don’t need to be doing a full design project to work with us on your windows. Whether you need functional shades, something decorative, or help choosing the right style, fabric, and features—we’re happy to help you find the perfect fit for your space.

As involved as you’d like to be! Our design process is flexible and tailored to your personality and working style. Whether you want to be part of every decision or prefer to hand things off and let us take the lead, we’re happy to adjust to what works best for you. If there are parts of the project you’d like to handle yourself, that’s totally fine—we don’t require you to use every service we offer. On the flip side, if you’d like guidance through every choice and detail, we’re here to walk with you every step of the way. Our top priority is creating a space that’s a true reflection of you—your lifestyle, your goals, and your style. While we’ll offer suggestions and share our expertise, you always have the final say. Whether you thrive on making decisions or prefer a more hands-off approach, we’ll make sure the process feels right for you.

We charge for our design services at an hourly rate, which allows us to provide a fully customized experience. You’re only paying for the services you choose to use—nothing more. We don’t require you to use every service we offer, just the ones that make sense for your project. We’re also very transparent with our fees and any product markups. All pricing details, including our hourly rate and how product purchasing works, will be clearly outlined in your design agreement at the start of the project. Our goal is to keep things simple, honest, and tailored to your needs.

Yes—we absolutely take your budget seriously and do our best to work within the financial parameters you set. From the start, we’ll discuss your goals and priorities to make sure we're allocating your budget in the most effective way. That said, we’re committed to recommending quality materials and products that meet our standards. If your budget doesn’t allow for the level of quality we feel confident standing behind, we’ll be honest about that and have an open conversation about your options. We’ll never suggest anything we believe is poorly made or won’t hold up over time. Our goal is always to create a beautiful, lasting space that fits both your vision and your investment.

Absolutely! We do this all the time. Incorporating pieces you already own can add character, meaning, and personality to your space—and sometimes a fresh design can give those items a whole new life. At the start of the project, you’ll have the chance to share what you’d like to keep, what you’re open to parting with, and anything you’re unsure about. We’ll do our best to design around those pieces in a way that still aligns with your overall goals. If we feel that something truly won’t work within the vision or function of the space, we’ll be honest and offer thoughtful alternatives or creative solutions. The end result should still feel like you—just refreshed and elevated!

Great design isn’t one-size-fits-all—and we take that to heart. Before we begin your project, we’ll have you complete detailed questionnaires tailored to the specific areas we’re designing. These help us learn about your preferences, lifestyle, routines, goals, and design style so we can understand your needs even before stepping into the space. From there, we continue to ask thoughtful questions during our in-person meetings and throughout the design process. Your input helps guide every decision we make, and we continually refer back to your answers to ensure the final design reflects you. While aesthetics matter, functionality is always a top priority. A space shouldn’t just look beautiful—it should work seamlessly for your everyday life. Our process is built to ensure the result is not only stylish but smart, practical, and completely personalized to you.

You don’t need to come in with a perfectly defined style. In fact, many of our clients start out unsure, and that’s totally okay. We’ll ask you to share any inspiration images, Pinterest boards, or saved ideas you’ve collected, even if they feel all over the place. We’ll also provide curated inspiration if needed to help you explore different looks and narrow things down. And here’s the good news: you don’t have to choose just one style. Most of the spaces we design are a thoughtful blend of styles—often combining different personalities (like a couple’s unique tastes) into one cohesive and meaningful space. The end result feels more layered, personal, and true to you!

We stay up to date on the latest design trends and industry shifts, but our top priority is creating a space that feels like you—not just what’s currently popular. If you’re drawn to certain trends, we’re happy to help you incorporate them in ways that feel natural and timeless within your space. And if you’re unsure about trends but still curious, we can guide you on where and how to use them thoughtfully—or skip them altogether if they don’t align with your style. At the end of the day, we’d much rather create a design that’s authentic to you than one that simply follows what’s trending. Trends will come and go—your space should feel personal, functional, and meaningful for the long haul.
